What is Search Engine:

What is Search Engine:

A web search engine is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The information may consist of web pages, images, information , videos and other types of files. Depending on the query user provides to the search engine, search engine fetches the relevant pages .The site which is more friendly to search engine would rank first in Google i.e. Search Engines

A search engine is a coordinated set of programs that includes:

• A spider (also called a "crawler" or a "bot") that goes to every page or representative pages on every Web site that wants to be searchable and reads it, using hypertext links on each page to discover and read a site's other pages

• A program that creates a huge index (sometimes called a "catalog") from the pages that have been read and saves it to its database

• A program that receives your search request, compares it to the entries in the index, and returns results to you

These programs also called as algorithms would be specific for each search engine and it also gets updated often. The algorithm decides which site to rank first in search engine
